Faculty
Dr. Steven G. Rogelberg is Chancellor's Professor and Director of Organizational Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Rogelberg is recognized nationally as an expert on team effectiveness, innovation, leadership, and employee engagement. His work on meetings has been profiled in outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, NPR, National Geographic, London Guardian, and CBS News.
Background
Feeling stuck on the quarterly one-hour review treadmill? Unable to show benefits for all the time you spend preparing for or presenting at committee meetings? Frustrated by the slow motion of the retirement readiness needle and the lack of committee responsiveness?
Poorly run meetings take a negative toll on client engagement. The initiative combines a survey of attendees who habitually conduct plan committee meetings with a series of interactive webconferences where professor Rogelberg addresses the most vexing problems identified in the survey.
This initiative is based on Rogelberg's research on meetings which has been profiled in some of our top media outlets in the world from the Financial Times, to the Wall Street Journal to National Public Radio. This evidence based approach sets the stage for a highly interactive discussion of a strategic approach in running meetings.
The methodology goes far beyond the banal instruction to provide an agenda, incorporates servant leadership notions into the conversation. Professor Rogelberg discusses unconventional out-of-the-box meeting approaches that foster committee creativity, innovation, and experimentation. These techniques help bring in original ideas and energize the group. Ultimately, this series of webconferences brings a sharp and strategic light to meeting activity. The goal is to promote effectiveness, client engagement, and innovation by leveraging and leading meetings.
